About Me

Raised in New York City, I pursued undergrad and graduate studies in the humanities at the University of Chicago (BA, MA, ABD), followed by a law degree (JD) from UCLA. After practicing corporate insolvency law in LA, I moved to Hong Kong where I became active in the Jewish community leadership (board of congregation; recruited directors of the Jewish community center, the Jewish day school, and two congregational rabbis).

In 2000 I co-founded and served as administrative director of a new nonprofit international school, Hong Kong Academy, and, while administering the school, enrolled in and completed (2006) the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA program (KH08). In 2008, I launched another NGO, China Schools Foundation, focusing on programs to improve primary education in rural China. An early program sponsored by a company in Xian was honored with a national corporate social responsibility award.

I made Aliyah in 2013 and have been doing graduate coursework in Second Temple and late antique history and texts at Hebrew University, simultaneously serving as editor of scholarly books and journals.

Just think, people have no problem having only one kidney, so we have to ask, why did G-d give us two kidneys? Perhaps it is so you would have an extra one to donate and save a life!
